A scratched piece of cast iron that was 50 years old that I couldn't remove with polish was broken up. I completely gutted the bathroom and had an electrician and plumber rewire the entire space with PVC drain pipes and a kickspace heater. After installing 1/4" cement board throughout the whole floor, I placed the tub on top of the hardiboard. The tub had small legs that allowed it to sit nicely level. It is lovely.
